Our History
During the years of 1960-1961, Ruth Woods, a member of the Mission Committee of the First Methodist Church in Richwood, realized the need for a meeting place for fellowship, activities, meals, & housing. Through the organization of several meetings, fundraising events, & community involvement, the Richwood Civic Center became a reality in 1962.
In honor of Ruth Woods, the village of Richwood is home to the annual RuthWoods 5k run, which is a fundraising event initiated by former board president & our local chiropractor, Dr. Dean Gray.
The Richwood Civic Center continues to honor the legacy of our founder by providing activities & advocacy.
